Martin has been Director of Customer Relations, Severn Trent Water since May 2006. In this role he has responsibility for meter installation, reading and the billing process. He joined Severn Trent Water in 1975, holding various posts including Head of Networks, Director of Engineering and roles in the design, construction and operation of water and wastewater treatment plants, water distribution networks and sewerage systems. Martin joined the board on 2 October 2007.

He is also a board member of UK Water Industry Research Ltd and Chairman of Utility and Service Industries Training Ltd.
